Collins Trip to key West
In February 2004, we flew to Miami and drove to Key West. Here are a few pictures:
Here is the family at the marker for the southernmost point in the continental
US
We rented motor scooters, and had a blast
Here I am standing next to a life size statue of the tallest
man to ever live - Robert Wadlow
We found some great stuffed grouper at the Flying Monkey on Duval Blvd
Mel Fischer has a store and museum where the treasure
from the Atocha, and other ship wrecks are displayed. Mel
died in 1988, but his legend lives on.
Here Stephanie is wearing a $140,000 gold necklace which
Mel removed from the Atocha
We took time to get in a little deep sea fishing. Austin is shown
here demonstrating the correct fishing position.
Stephanie caught a nice barracuda
I caught an even nicer one. The guide tried hard to talk me into
having it stuffed, but I released him instead. At last glance, he
was doing fine.
This is the zero mile marker
This is the roadway that was blown up in Arnold Schwarzenegger's movie - True
Lies.
Lucky for us they repaired this roadway before we got there.
